In September, celebration of the Feast of King Jaume I
From 5 to 8 September 2024, Salou celebrates the departure of King Jaume I from the Port of Salou to conquer Mallorca. During these days, various cultural, sporting and recreational activities will remember that historic moment with the Medieval Market, the historical recreation of the royal departure, conferences, workshops and a regatta, among other events.
Salou commemorates its history by recovering its Population Charter of 1194
Salou has a long history, not only because of the Iberian remains (town of La Cella) or Romans (villa de Barenys) that can be visited but also because it has Population Charter since 1194. No less than 830 years since King Alfonso II of Aragon granted this founding document and that is why Salou has remembered this anniversary with various acts.

The Fiesta del Rey Jaume I ready to remember the history of Salou

See the Complete program of the Festival of King Jaume I of Salou from August 31 to September 3, 2023..
What to do in Salou in September: King Jaume I Festival and Medieval Market
From September 1 to 4, 2022, one of the most unique festivals in Salou is celebrated: the Rei Jaume I Festival, which arrives accompanied by cultural activities and the Medieval Market, as well as a royal procession, set in the 13th century, that runs through the main streets of Salou to the beach. Here you can consult the detailed program of activities.
Salou's medieval past returns with the feast of King Jaume I
Although you wouldn't say it with the naked eye, Salou has a past ... medieval. There are no vestiges of the time that can be visited, but we do know that King Jaume I left on September 5, 1229, from the port of Salou, to conquer Mallorca to the Muslims. That is why every year Salou celebrates the Feast of King Jaume I and this 2019 will be from September 5 to 8. Do not miss it!
The Feast of King Jaume I turns the center of Salou into a medieval city
Salou will travel to the past to commemorate the departure of the troops of King Jaume I 789 years ago at a party that bears his name. For 23 years, the capital of the Costa Daurada celebrates that anniversary and does so from August 30 to September 2 through a parade and a medieval market that is located in the center of the city.
Medieval festival of the King Jaume I in Salou
When September arrives Salou recalls one of the most singular episodes in the history of Catalonia: when in 1229 King Jaime I left the port of Salou with an army destined to conquer Mallorca to the Saracens. If you want to end the summer with the medieval experience of Salou, book your stay without thinking about it. And at the best price with Salou.com!
