Economic, political and social sectors say Yes to Hard Rock

The signatories, gathered in the Cámara of Tarragona.

Salou. Costa Dorada. 06 December 2022.
The main representatives of the economic, political and social sector of the Camp de Tarragona and the Terres de l'Ebre have presented this Monday, December 5, 2022, a joint manifesto that demands from the Generalitat of Catalonia the final approval of the Modification of the Urban Master Plan for the reorganization of the Recreation and Tourist Center of Vila-seca and Salou, with the aim of enabling the development of Integrated Tourist Centers and the implementation of the Hard Rock Entertainment World project.
The development of this project, which has been in the works for 10 years, would bring an important economic injection, favor the deseasonalization of tourist activity and contribute decisively to the development of holiday, business and shopping tourism, with an investment expected to exceed 1,000 million euros, which foresees the creation of more than 12,000 jobs.
The presentation of this manifesto was attended by the president of the Chamber of Tarragona, Laura Roigé; the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados; the mayor of Vila-Seca, Pere Segura, as well as several institutional and business actors, such as the Business Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Tarragona Province (FEHT), representatives of the various productive sectors of the territory (CEPTA, AEHT, FEAT, AEQT, AEST, PIMEC and Xarxa Santa Tecla, among others) mayors of different municipalities in the Comarques of Tarragona, business associations, members of the Chambers of Commerce of Reus, Valls and Tortosa and the Provincial Council of Tarragona as well as representatives of the Rovira i Virgili University, among others.
During the event, and as expressed in the manifesto, the groups involved defend that the service sector of Camp de Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre has a weight of 58% in the Gross Aggregate Value (GVA), representing an average employment of 73% of the active population of the Regions of Tarragona. For all this, a large-scale and impactful project like that of Hard Rock is essential to economically and socially dynamise the territory in a sustainable and multi-sector manner.
For their part, the mayors of Vila-seca, Pere Segura, and Salou, Pere Granados, have regretted the slowness in the definition of the project and Granados has criticized the ambiguity in a project of great importance like this.
The manifesto, which also promotes the respect of any environmental and social requirement for the proper implementation of Hard Rock, will be signed during this month of December by the various agents and municipalities that are part of Camp de Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre, all folded with the aim of unblocking an investment that can be lost due to the slowness and obstacles in its processing.
