The Blue Flag now flies on the beaches of Levante and Chaplains of Salou
Salou. Costa Dorada. 12th July 2012. The mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, together with the Councillor for Beaches, Julia Gomez and councilman of Environmental Quality, Ramon Pascual, have flown the European Blue Flag beaches of Levante and Capellans. The distinctive blue flags awarded by the Association for Environmental Education and Consumer (eco), although it has had the collaboration of Transportation of the Government. The beaches have passed the examinations conducted by these agencies based on four criteria for bathing water quality, environmental education and information, environmental management and safety, services and facilities. The Councillor for Beaches, Julia Gomez, explained that "the act of hoisting the blue flag symbolizes recognition for work completed to provide a high quality service and environmental aspects that distinguish our beaches." This flag was given recently by the Minister of Planning and Sustainability, Lluis Recoder in a ceremony held in L'Escala. This award is given each year since 1987, and is given to those beaches that pass the exams hygiene, security, free access, sustainability, legislative compliance, care for people with disabilities and offer supplementary education, among others. The Blue Flag awards are participating in voluntary environmental initiatives of local authorities, local people and visitors and the tourism industry players. This year, the Gold Coast, a total of 37 beaches and 8 Marinas have the Blue Flag. Remember that on 27 June, they also raise the Q Quality Flags for beaches of East and West as well as the flag Isoo 14001 for all beaches.
