Discover Salou and the Costa Dorada through classical music

JOFICAT Inaugural Concert

Salou. Costa Dorada. 10 July 2017. Classical music comes to the Costa Dorada and Salou with the first edition of the International Festival of Music of the Costa Dorada-Salou from 8 July to 14 August.

This festival will offer more than 40 concerts in different municipalities of the Costa Dorada with the intention of discovering these places through classical music.

Salou will be the epicenter of the festival, where the inaugural concert and five more classical music performances will take place, one of them in the Golden Nights of Salou. All performances in the city will be free and open to the public in municipal spaces such as the Parc de la Ciutat, the Torre Vella, the Luminous Fountain and the Plaza of the Autonomous Communities.

Other municipalities such as Tarragona, Torredembarra, Santa Coloma de Queralt, Altafulla, Creixell, Montblanc, Roda de Berà, Vilanova d'Escornalbou, Valls and Cambrils, will welcome the rest of the performances at economic prices, 5 euros for each show.

The organization of the first Costa Dorada-Salou International Music Festival has assumed the full cost of investment to promote this event, with a budget of 100,000 euros to bring the best performances of cambra and symphonic music to the Costa Dorada.

The objectives of this festival are based on promoting the existing leisure offer on the Costa Dorada and, in turn, give impetus and dissemination of classical music along with the sites of the interior areas and coastal municipalities of the province of Tarragona, already known by visitors.

Another objective is to convert Salou and Costa Dorada into the meeting point for national and international interpreters of cambra and symphonic music to enjoy their talent at a summer festival dedicated exclusively to classical music.

Finally, it is sought that this area is a reference in offering a quality musical offer to contribute in the dissemination of Musical Heritage Catalan with a broad program of more than 5 weeks and 40 performances in different municipalities.

The most outstanding performers that will participate in this first edition of the festival are the cellists Svetlana Tovstukha and Edmon Bosch, the harpist Laia Barberà, the oboist Marta Vara, the soprano Charo Tris, the guitarists Izan Rubio, José Galeote, José Isidoro Ramos, Carles Hoyo Françoise-Xavier Nicolet, violinists Natalia Borysyuk and Manel Ribera, pianist Melani Mestre, the Ibèric Quartet, Salzburg Guitar Trio, ClassicJazz Quartet, Duo Tangozzola and the young Philharmonic Orchestra, pioneer in Catalonia, JOFICAT.

The opening concert will take place on 8 July at 8:30 pm at the Luminous Fountain in Salou by the Jove Philharmonic Orchestra of Catalonia (JOFICAT) with the direction of Melani Mestre and cellist Svetlana Tovstukha. Free entrance.
