Salou prepares the beaches for the start of the tourist season
Salou. Costa Dorada. 14 February 2020. Salou is already working to make the beaches ready for the beginning of the tourist season, which is during Holy Week. Specifically, 15,000 cubic meters of fine sand are transferred from the beaches of Ponent and Llevant to the Llarga beach, the Llenguadets cove and the Capellans beach.
The sand that is moving was taken by the storm "Gloria" last January to the beach of Ponent, where it was a surplus. However, on the Llarga beach, the last storm caused an important damage taking away the dune there was.
The mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, has visited this morning the Ponent de Salou beach and the Llarga beach, where these works are being carried out, accompanied by the Councilor for Land and Housing Management, Marc Montagut, and the Councilor for Playas , maintenance, repairs and adjustments, Pedro Madrona, in addition to the municipal architect.
During the visit, the mayor of the capital of the Costa Dorada said that "we are working so that all Salou beaches are in optimal conditions for both residents and visitors, which will arrive in a few weeks." Granados added that "the access to the same beaches, which were damaged by the storms, will be reviewed so that they are ready and prepared."
