The second round of British students arrive on 6 April to Salou
The next Tuesday, April 6th, is due to arrive in Salou's second round of British university students who participate until April 10 th in a program of recreational and sports activities, known as Saloufest. In this second round will have about 4,000 students, after the first round of another 4,000 more were dismissed on 31 March of his stay in Salou without any remarkable incidents. Following the huge media attention that has had the visit of Prime Time students, Salou City Council has published the following statement: "On the visit of British university students, in a program of recreational and competitive sport. 1 .- Salou and its tourism industry has made a solid commitment to building skills and tourism brand for families and, therefore, the main economic activity is based on this expertise as a destination for family tourism and values, which consider perfectly compatible with a range of leisure, with a variety of services and recreational activities. The nightlife offerings that are part of the diverse product, is also important for a large segment of our visitors. Precisely, the set, Salou allows us to convert a first class holiday destination. 2 .- The goal of programming and development of placements for young English university is to promote sport and leisure, and for this reason since 2002 are embracing these stays in Salou, where young people participate for most of the day sports competitions and various specialties, which is the main activity. 3 .- Salou is working intensively on the development of different types of products among which sports tourism. 4 .- It is important to note that the visit of this group of university students have worked and marketed by different agents of the corporate sector of the city, who bet on the season with seasonally different products such as sports. This bet allows the opening of various accommodation establishments, leisure and commercial night before the months of mid and high season, with consequent benefits for the destination and job creation. 5 -. The nightly entertainment of the young British, building the supply of leisure facilities, has not resulted in public disorder, no fights, no vandalism has led to damage to furniture or private property. 6 .- In any case, these youths have been causing some discomfort for a higher occupancy and increased street noise in some very localized, a fact which we deeply regret the Town Hall. Remark also that today and over the years that have been developing these programs for young Britons have passed normally. 7 .- Night activities of the university students have been at all times under control by a host device and comprehensive care; usual whenever there is a large group of visitors throughout the year. From the City Hall will have all the means necessary to ensure order and peace among the citizenry, and that the youth stay out as normal as possible and cause the least impact on the target. " As explained at the time the City Councilor for Tourism of Salou, Alberto del Hierro, the arrival of 8,000 university students in two shifts, in Saloufest, aged between 18 and 23 years, is part of a travel programs being conducted in Salou since 2002. The first Saloufest had only 200 people, a figure that has steadily increased up to 6,500 participants last year and 8,400 this year.
