Medievals feasts of King James I in Salou

As part of the Festival of Medieval King Jaime I Salou, Salou City Library hosts the conference "From chronicler to  chronicler. The Book or works of James I" by Josep M. Sabate, official historian of the city of Tarragona and professor emeritus at the Rovira i Virgili University (URV).

"The Book of works of James I" is the first of the four Catalan medieval chronicles, and is written by the king in person in order to record their deeds and to serve as an example to posterity.

James I reigned for 63 years and was King of Aragon, Valencia, Mallorca, and Count of Barcelona and Urgell and Lord of Montpellier. Son of Peter I of Aragon and Maria of Montpellier, was born in Montpellier in 1208 and died in Valencia in 1276. He was king for five years and in 1228 began the conquest of Mallorca (in 1229 departed from the port of Salou to the islands) and five years later, that of Valencia.
